THE SMALLEST VAN DER VALK HOTEL HAS EXPANSION PLANS
VAN DER VALK HOTEL HARDEGARIJP - LEEUWARDEN
Van der Valk Hotel Hardegarijp-Leeuwarden, currently the smallest Van der Valk hotel in the Netherlands with 32 rooms, has submitted ambitious expansion plans to the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel. Owner Remmert Zandstra and his wife, who took over the hotel two years ago, want to expand the number of rooms to 79.
The expansion includes raising the back of the hotel, adding a winter garden, a larger restaurant, and an extended parking lot. During the renovation, the authentic appearance of the 186-year-old inn will be preserved, including the characteristic creaking wooden floors.
The start date of the renovation is still uncertain and depends on the network operator Liander, who must be able to supply enough electricity for the planned switch from gas to electric energy.
