King Willem-Alexander celebrated his 59th birthday on April 27 in Dokkum, but prior to this festive day, the royal family stayed at Van der Valk Hotel Hardegarijp. A special moment for the hotel, which had the honor of welcoming the family during their visit to Friesland.
Queen Máxima was one of the first to arrive and was enthusiastically received by a cheering crowd. Together with her dog Mambo, she got out of the car, waving and smiling at the public. Later that evening, King Willem-Alexander also arrived at the hotel.
Prince Pieter-Christiaan also shared on Instagram that he was on his way to Friesland. Alongside a photo of colorful flower fields, he wrote: “On our way.”
On King's Day itself, the royal family visited the historic Dokkum for a festive walk through the city. Thousands of visitors gathered to welcome the royal couple and the rest of the family during a day full of music, culture, and Frisian traditions.
